The Festival of Trees will be closed to the public due to the current rise of COVID-19 cases — but it will still be accessible online.

“We thank everyone who had made plans to attend this year’s Festival of Trees and we are grateful to our sponsors for their continued support and understanding. We look forward to a time where we can gather again,” organizers said in a statement Tuesday.

The tree room can be viewed through Facebook Live every day from Nov. 14 to 28.

The Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, at www.facebook.com/rdrhfoundation, will notify the public when the room goes live.

The tree room can also be viewed from inside Bower Place shopping mall, but it will not be accessible to the public.

The silent auction catalogue will be accessible at www.reddeerfestivaloftrees.ca/auction, where bids can be placed.

Christmas Jingle Cash Lottery tickets will be available at www.reddeerfestivaloftrees.ca/jingle. The top prize is $10,000 cash, plus an early bird prize of $2,500, to be drawn on Dec. 4.

Ticket packages start at $10 and are available until Dec. 18; final draws are on Dec. 23.

This year, funds raised during the festival will go towards the purchase of electronic fetal monitoring for Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and other care centres in central Alberta.
