An Olds home suffered extensive fire damage after fire broke out on Sunday afternoon.
Olds Fire Department said crews found the attached garage at 5441 56th St. engulfed in flames and fire was spreading to the roof when they arrived.
The residents were at home and a smoke detector alerted them to the fire. They escaped uninjured.
Crews were dispatched at about 12:07 p.m. and firefighters worked to limit the spread of the fire. Damage was extensive because fire spread through entire roof. A nearby home was damaged by radiant heat exposure, but damage was limited to the exterior of the home.
Crews were on scene for several hours bringing the fire under control and investigating the cause. The investigation continues and is not deemed suspicious.
The cost of damage has not yet been determined but damage was extensive.
Fire crews from Didsbury and Sundre were called to assist.
Olds Fire Department wants to remind residents to check their smoke alarms on a regular basis because they save lives.
