Brooke Fraser, 10, of Cochrane and her grandfather Doug Hand of Lacombe get a close look at Wayne Roberts first place dahlia bloom at the Lacombe and District Garden Club Show this week. In its 60th year, the gardening club has been hosting events each year to bring together the best of what gardeners in the area have been able to produce. The one-day event featured an afternoon tea where participants and the public could get a look at what the judges thought was the best entries. On Sept. 22, the club will host a fundraising banquet at Wolf Creek Community Church that will include a silent auction and a catered meal.
