Anytime Fitness in Red Deer South was hit with a violation notice from Alberta Health Services last week.

The AHS website states that the facility was contravening the public health order by having adults from different households exercising in the facility without an approved trainer, instructor or coach. The violation was recorded on Feb. 12 and delivered as a verbal order to the owner.

The facility was advised to complete the Relaunch Plan template and provide details of all risk mitigation measures to be implemented to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

Step 1 of Alberta’s path forward, the plan to re-open businesses started on Feb. 8 and allowed fitness facilities to have people in to exercise, provided they work one-on-one with a certified trainer.

Step 2 of the plan is expected to go forward on March 1. That portion of the plan has yet to be fully outlined by the provincial government but could include further easing of restrictions on fitness facilities.
