Five people are vying to fill a vacant seat on Penhold council.

Rob Burton, Mike Dodman, Cameron Galisky, Samantha Miller and Brandon Pringle are the individuals running in an upcoming byelection. The council seat became available after Mike Walsh’s resignation earlier this summer.

A candidate forum will be held Aug. 23 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Penhold and District Library.

Byelection day polls will be open at the Penhold Regional Multiplex from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 6.

“I, along with council encourage all eligible residents to participate in the democratic process by researching and speaking with candidates, and casting their ballots,” said Mayor Mike Yargeau.

“By taking part in the byelection, residents can continue to contribute to making our community a great place to grow, by electing representatives they want to see serve on council.”
