Five people injured in highway crash near Donalda

A two-vehicle collision near Donalda on Thursday resulted in five people being sent to hospital.

A two-vehicle collision near Donalda on Thursday resulted in five people being sent to hospital.

The crash happened at about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Hwys 56 and 53 near Donalda.

A pickup truck and trailer with two passengers travelling eastbound and an SUV travelling northbound bound carrying five passengers collided at the intersection.

Two people required extrication by emergency personnel. Five people were transported to surrounding area hospitals all with non-life threatening injuries.

Due to the number of patients involved, Bashaw and Stettler RCMP, Stettler regional fire rescue, and EMS crews from Bashaw, Camrose, Forestburg, Ponoka and Stettler attended the scene.

Donalda is about 110 km northeast of Red Deer. The collision is still under investigation.
