Flag worker hit by semi on Alberta’s Highway 63; serious injuries

A worker doing traffic control on a northern Alberta highway has serious injuries after being struck by a semi.

FORT MCMURRAY — A worker doing traffic control on a northern Alberta highway has serious injuries after being struck by a semi.

Mounties say the construction worker was “flagging” at kilometre 134 on Highway 63 when he was hit Monday night.

The man was airlifted to hospital.

Wood Buffalo RCMP say the name of the man and where he worked were not immediately available.

The worker was hit in a construction zone within the highway twinning project with speeds limited to 50 km/h.
