Fog may played role in fatal crash near Torrington: police

An Olds teen was killed in a morning crash east of Torrington.

Three Hills RCMP were called to the two vehicle crash at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the intersection of Hwy 27 and Range Road 252.

According to police a semi-tanker travelling southbound on Range Road 252 entered onto Hwy 27 and the trailer was struck, broadside, by a westbound SUV.

The lone occupant of the SUV, a 17-year-old from Olds, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the cause of the collision is under investigation.

Police said at the time of the collision a thick blanket of fog covered the area.

No other details have been released.
