A former Red Deer lawyer facing three dozen charges was denied bail on Friday.

Bradley Mulder, 45, had a bail hearing in Red Deer provincial court in front of Calgary Judge Frank Maloney, who did not consent to his release.

Evidence presented during a bail hearing and the reasons for a judge’s decision are covered under a publication ban.

Prior to his bail hearing, Mulder pleaded guilty to possession of a switchblade, and four other charges related to violating court orders or release conditions.

Mulder was charged with the weapons offence on Feb. 7, 2017 after Sylvan Lake RCMP with a search warrant went to a residence in that town. Mulder was arrested and taken to the detachment where the knife was found in a pocket.

The four other charges relate to failing to report to RCMP or probation as required and breaking curfew.

Maloney sentenced Mulder to 50 days based on a 1.5-day credit on the 33 days he has been in custody since his last arrest.

Mulder committed a number of offences after getting out of prison, where he served a 90-day sentence handed down last November after being convicted of possession of drugs, possession of property obtained by crime and several breaches of court orders.

Mulder will remain in custody. He is facing five separate trials on 28 charges, mostly for stolen property-related offences.

A search of the property and outbuildings turned up a 2017 Subaru that had been reported stolen from Ponoka on April 25. Also recovered was a 2006 Big Tex flat deck trailer that had been reported stolen out of Consort in April, a 2005 Caterpillar 420D backhoe reported stolen out of Consort on April 27, and two quads reported stolen from Rimbey on May 2.
