Four people were hospitalized with injuries after a car struck a pickup truck near Alix early on Wednesday.

Members of Bashaw RCMP responded to a head-on collision that happened just before 9 a.m. on Hwy 11 near the junction of Secondary Hwy 601.

An eastbound car was found to have struck a westbound pickup truck, said Const. Charles Gagne of Bashaw RCMP, who noted Emergency Services crews from Alix and Red Deer also assisted at the crash site.

The male driver of the car was airlifted by STARS to a hospital, said Gagne, but he did not know which city, or which community the injured man was from.

Gage said the three occupants of the truck were taken by ground ambulance to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

The crash is still under investigation.
