Sports, obstacle courses, nature fun and arts and crafts — a bevy of free activities for all ages will be making the rounds of Red Deer neighbourhoods starting next week.

The City of Red Deer is announcing the return of its seasonal neighbourhood recreation program, Meet Me At the Park. A wide range of activities for Red Deerians of all ages will be coming to Eastview, as well as Inglewood, Riverside Meadows, Rosedale, Normandeau, Parkvale, Morrisroe, and West Park.

The program aims to bring people together and foster a sense of belonging, said Georgia Major, community and program facilitator at the City of Red Deer.

Meet Me at The Park offers opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and community engagement. Games, including soccer, basketball, tennis, pickleball, badminton and baseball will be offered. As well, there will be creative workshops with arts, crafts and nature-focused activities throughout the summer.

“We are delighted to bring back Meet Me at The Park to Red Deer for another exciting season,” said Major.

“This program has been incredibly successful in creating opportunities for residents to connect, have fun, and enjoy the wonderful park amenities available in our city. It’s a fantastic way to promote a healthy and vibrant community.”

Meet Me at The Park will take place across in local parks from July 4 to Aug. 25 (Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday’s from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m).

The fun starts from Tuesday to Friday of next week at 120 Ellenwood Drive in Eastview Estates.
