EDMONTON — A Calgary-based group that doesn’t believe carbon dioxide emissions cause global warming is taking aim at a prominent Alberta environmental group’s charitable status.
The Friends of Science has asked its supporters to write the Canada Revenue Agency about an investigation into the activities of the Alberta Wilderness Association.
The Friends object to the association’s refusal to print a rebuttal to an article critical of them in the Alberta Wilderness newsletter.
That article ran after the Friends erected a billboard advertising their belief that climate change is caused by the sun.
The Friends also point out that Alberta Wilderness receives funding from organizations that are heavily involved in criticizing the oilsands.
The wilderness association has been mostly critical of provincial policies that it says lead to destruction of wildlife habitat by energy developers.
