Frozen pre-made meals are being delivered to rural Red Deer County residents experiencing isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program is available to residents of Red Deer County, the Town of Bowden, the Village of Delburne, the Village of Elnora and the Town of Penhold.

The meals are provided at cost, with free delivery each week.

“The program fills an important need in rural communities where meal delivery is not always an easy option,” said county community services manager Jo-Ann Symington.

“Interested individuals fill out and submit an application form about their delivery. Staff will then contact the individual to notify them that the delivery will be arriving.”

Meals are commercially prepared and follow the Canada Food Guide. Both individual and family meals are available, with a range of options.
