BROOKS — A man wanted in the United States for attempted murder has been arrested on this side of the border.

Police say a fugitive apprehension unit received information last February that Ahmed Abdi might be in southern Alberta.

Investigators determined that Abdi, who is wanted in Minneapolis, Minn., was living in Calgary under an alias.

He was arrested Monday in Brooks, about 180 kilometres southeast of Calgary, as part of an assault investigation.

He has been transferred to Edmonton for an extradition hearing.

A bail hearing is set for June 13 in Edmonton Court of Queen’s Bench.
