Westerner Park’s Christmas concerts with country singer George Canyon are postponed to 2021.
The decision was made following the government of Alberta’s announcement declaring a state of public health emergency and putting stricter measures in place to protect the health system and reduce the rising spread of COVID-19.
“Unfortunately, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, and in support of the Alberta government’s announcement today, we will be postponing our event until a later date,” says Westerner Park’s CEO, Mike Olesen.
“We know that by taking these measures now, we are doing our part to protect the health and safety of our community.”
The three sold-out acoustic shows were to be held Dec. 3 to 5.
“Thank you to our community. Selling out three dates for A Very Acoustic Christmas with George Canyon in only six hours is a testament to the confidence our guests have in us to safely and successfully produce events,” says Olesen.
Westerner Park plans to work with partners to find an appropriate time to host another event with Canyon in 2021.
Ticket purchasers will be contacted directly and have their money refunded, says the facility.
