The discount store Giant Tiger will be opening a location in Red Deer in June.
The store will be at 6751 50th Ave., and occupy 15,500 square feet, Giant Tiger Stores Limited announced on Wednesday.
Giant Tiger is a Canadian-owned family discount store, providing family fashions, groceries and everyday household needs.
Through a master franchise agreement with Giant Tiger Stores Limited, The North West Company operates the Western Canada franchises. It has stores in some other Alberta locations, including Edmonton and Calgary.
Community events and programming are planned during the grand opening on June 24.
Giant Tiger, a privately held company, has over 220 locations across Canada and employs over 8,000 people. It also has online shopping at gianttiger.com. Giant Tiger locations are locally owned or operated by someone who knows the community.
