SASKATOON — Police have charged a 13-year-old girl and are investigating several boys after one of them allegedly discharged bear spray at a Saskatoon shopping mall on Saturday.

Investigators say they were called to Midtown Plaza at about 5:30 p.m. after someone reported that an “unknown substance” was dispersed into the air.

Police say the girl and three boys were involved in a fight with an unknown male, during which one of the boys discharged bear spray.

Police say nobody was injured, and the boys and the alleged victim left the mall before officers arrived.

The girl has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and administer a noxious substance.

Police are investigating the other parties, and say that everyone involved in the incident knew each other.
