Karli Kendall, executive assistant at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, carefully arranges colourful glass pieces from the work titled Glacial Rocks created by artist Ciara Jayne Hossack, next to the clear glass work titled Ripe created by Julia Riemer. An Alberta Foundation for the Arts exhibition featuring the work of glass artists opens at the gallery today and runs until Sept. 26. The exhibition, Glass 2009, includes 35 pieces by some of Alberta’s established, as well as emerging, artists, along with some pieces considered historic. The pieces were acquired in 2009. Red Deer’s Darren Petersen is among the 16 artists featured. A reception for the exhibition at the museum and gallery, at 4525-47A Ave., will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
