Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre is encouraging people to #GoBlue AB in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

This is the fourth year the centre is running the #GoBlueAB initiative and hopes to continue to spread awareness online in conjunction with child advocacy centres across the province.

Oct. 24 has been chosen as the day when everyone is invited to wear blue to recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.

“By wearing blue we can raise more awareness about the prevalence of child abuse in our communities and how we can take action to prevent it,” says the centre.

Schools, workplaces and other organizations can wear blue from Oct. 24-28 and tag the child advocacy centre on social media through @CentralABCAC and use the hashtag #GoBlueAB.

Those interested in taking part in a corporate challenge can contact the centre.

A host of events have been lined up to get the message out. Those who go can support the centre by making a donation and picking up a Child Abuse Prevention Month ribbon.

The child advocacy centre is a not-for-profit organization and works in collaboration with Central Region Children’s Services, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Justice, Alberta Education, Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre and the RCMP.
