Good Samaritans leapt into action after a car drove into a pond in Blackfalds.

Blackfalds RCMP were called to the single motor vehicle incident on Sunday. Police said the vehicle left Hwy 2A near Parkwood Road and drove into a pond.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw members of the public who witnessed the incident acting fast. They, along with RCMP members, entered the water to free the lone occupant of the vehicle. The vehicle was partially submerged in the pond.

Due to these quick actions, the lone male occupant was removed from the vehicle with minimal injury. Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene, assessed the male and took him to hospital for a follow-up treatment.

The cause of the collision is still under police investigation.

Blackfalds RCMP want to thank the actions of the public who helped with the rescue and recovery of the male driver without hesitation.
