A worker secures roof beams for the new grandstand at the Alberta Downs racetrack, just west of Lacombe, on Friday. The building will hold 1,500 people when it’s ready late this spring. Fifty-three days of racing have been booked for the track this year: 50 days of harness racing through the summer until Aug. 29 and two days of thoroughbred racing in September with a third day in October.
