Doors are being thrown wide open to residents interested in learning more about local innovation in decentralized energy with the third annual Alberta Green Energy Doors Open.

Starting this Friday, several homes and organizations across the province will host show-and-tells of their green energy initiatives.

Central Alberta residents can learn more about green energy options by attending open houses:

- Off Grid Passive Solar Monolithic Dome Home Tour in Lacombe County

- Sylvan Star Cheese Farm Solar Tour in Red Deer County

- Kerry Wood Nature Centre in Red Deer

The event encourages users, producers and advocates of decentralized energy to open their doors to raise awareness, understanding and support for sustainable energy by providing people the opportunity to visit, see, touch and talk about the projects in their own backyards.

The City of Red Deer promotes the open house event in alignment with the Environmental Master Plan’s goal to support environmental sustainability.
