RED DEER — A Central Alberta man charged in the death of his father has been declared fit to stand trial.

Aaron Guilbault, who is 31, is charged with second-degree murder and recently underwent a psychiatric assessment.

Red Deer court heard another review is needed to determine Guilbault’s possible criminal responsibility.

He is expected back in court on May 1 once that assessment is completed.

The body of former Red Deer city councillor Timothy Guilbault, who was 58, was found in a home near Innisfail last November.

Police have not said how he died.
