The Sylvan Lake Gulls are set to make history this spring.
Monday, the Western Canadian Baseball League released its 2021 summer schedule and the Gulls will play their inaugural contest on the road in Lethbridge on May 28.
Sylvan Lake will open the season with nine games on the road, including a three-game set in Fort McMurray as well as a pair of visits to Okotoks. The Gulls will host the Lethbridge Bulls on June 11 for opening night at Pogadl Park.

“We are very excited to announce our schedule for the upcoming year, and we cannot wait to open up our beautiful ballparks again and reconnect with the best baseball fans in Canada,” said WCBL President Kevin Kvame in a press release.
The 11-team league will feature a 56-game season, followed by a best-of-three semi-final playoff series in the second week of August. The Eastern and Western Championships will take place from Aug. 11-13 with the WCBL final slated for Aug. 15.
Sylvan Lake will also play the 2019 WCBL champion Okotoks Dawgs on May 30 in Okotoks.
