An elated Chantel Schroeder, 14, watches Nova Chemicals workers assemble walls for what will be her bedroom in a Habitat For Humanity home under construction on Monday. Chantel, her mother Teresa and brother Brandon, 12, who suffers from cerebral palsy, toured the organization’s first local barrier-free home during World Habitat Day, a United Nations effort to recognize that adequate shelter is a basic human right. Nova workers were on hand as part of their Days of Caring program, which sees company employees do volunteer work.
