Handgun and drugs seized during arrest of suspected drug dealer

Red Deer man facing drugs and weapons charge in connection with June 18 drug bust

A suspected drug trafficker armed with a handgun was arrested by Red Deer RCMP.

Police said they arrested a suspect on June 18 and seized a .22-calibre handgun, cash, three ounces of methamphetamine, one ounce of cocaine and two grams of fentanyl.

“During this arrest, we seized a significant amount of drugs, equating to hundreds of hits from potential buyers,” said Sgt. Paul Glanville.

“The dedicated drug unit at the Red Deer RCMP works to remove illegal drugs from our city, which often has trickle-down effects for other crimes, including property and person offences.”

Ronald Stephens, 43, of Red Deer, has been charged with seven firearms-related offences, three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of LSD, resisting arrest and possession of the proceeds of crime.
