Many individuals make the New Year’s resolution to live a healthier life.
The Healthy Living Expo gave Red Deerians a chance to learn what they can do to see that resolutions through to the end.
“Anyone who has New Year’s resolutions that has yet to put them into action, it’s really good to come check out the expo,” said event manager Rayna Heinzlmeir.
“Anyone who has already started, can come and figure out what else they can do to enhance those resolutions. This is for beginners, novices and experts. It encompasses all those levels.”
About 3,000 people were expected to attend the ninth annual expo, which was held at Westerner Park’s Harvest Centre Saturday.
“We have a whole bunch of new vendors this year. It’s really great when there’s some turnover because it keeps it new and fresh,” Heinzlmeir said, adding there were about 100 vendors, which the maximum amount possible at the venue.
“It’s always a well-attended show. It’s really great for the community and really neat for central Albertans to experience the different things available in the area. It’s a good day.”
The event featured two rooms. The first featured a farmers market with baking, coffee, face-painting, a bouncy castle and more. The second room was filled with fitness professionals and health practitioners.
“There’s pretty much anything you could hope for … so you can come in, check things out and ask any questions you may have,” Heinzlmeir said.
Demos were running throughout the entire day on the main stage as well.
Heinzlmeir said she hopes everyone who walks through the door learns a new way to live a healthier life.
“It’s important … you’re doing your exercising, you’re eating properly. You can have fun healthy choice it doesn’t have to be a bad thing, like, ‘Oh no, it’s healthy food.’
“The mental wellness component of that is very important too. You get to have a little taste of everything here.”
