A criminal who tried stealing money from a pizza shop last week remains on the lam.

Red Deer city RCMP are seeking the public’s help in tracking down the suspect who broke into a store in a strip mall last Wednesday at about 3:45 a.m. Police were called out to find the front window smashed at Little Caesar’s Pizza in the 6700 block of 50th Avenue.

Other nearby businesses suffered similar damage.

RCMP spokesman Const. Chris Kosack said that the suspect was trying to get money from the tills but the shops hadn’t left any money inside them, so the suspect left with nothing.

It’s believed that the one suspect was involved in all break-ins, he said.

Police obtained surveillance video footage and with assistance from Red Deer RCMP forensic identification section, were able to obtain digital still photos.

The male is described as 1.73 to 1.8 metres tall (five foot eight to five foot 11) and weighing 75 to 82 kg (165 to 180 pounds). He was wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans and a black bandana to conceal his face. He was driving an older silver van.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 403-343-5575 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or report it online at www.tipsubmit.com. If the information leads to an arrest, tipsters are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
