A high streamflow advisory has been issued for the Red Deer River Basin.

A high streamflow advisory has been issued for the Red Deer River Basin.

The advisory affects the Red Deer River and its tributaries upstream of Dickson Dam, Little Red Deer River and Medicine River.

Alberta Environment says no major flooding is expected but minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Stream levels are rising or are expected to rise rapidly over the weekend.

A slow-moving, low-pressure system is expected to dump as much as 30 mm of rain in the Red Deer River basin and Slave Lake areas this weekend.

“Moderate to significant water level increases are possible along streams locating in and north of the Red Deer River basin,” says the advisory.

Conditions are being monitored and further updates will be issued as required.
