A Hobbema man charged with first-degree murder made a brief court appearance in Wetaskiwin on Tuesday.

A Hobbema man charged with first-degree murder made a brief court appearance in Wetaskiwin on Tuesday.

Clifford Soosay, 26, is one of three men charged in connection with the murder of Winston Crier.

Crier, 51, who is from Samson Cree Nation, was found dead in a rural area of the Montana reserve on May 6. RCMP said the incident is not related to gang activity.

Soosay will return to court on June 27 at 9:30 a.m. for election and plea.

Nikki Saddleback, 25, and Troy Crier, 27, have also been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
