The joy of the holiday season will be celebrated through songs and stories in Cornerstone Youth Theatre’s Christmas Spectacular.
The musical production that opens on Friday, Dec. 2, and runs through Dec. 10 features 67 talented young performers. It enacts some of the best Christmas stories of all time, including A Christmas Carol, featuring Scrooge, Jacob Marley, Tiny Tim and the rest of the Cratchits.
A Santa’s workshop scene features an entrance by the Grand Old Elf himself, while a nativity will remind everyone of the real purpose behind this annual holiday season.
Holiday traditions, old and new, will also be celebrated through music — including medleys of popular and quirky seasonal tunes (“Who wants a hippopotamus for Christmas?”)
There will be something for every age — one to 100, says the show’s organizers, who aimed to highlight the themes of “joy, peace, home and children.”
Red Deerians are invited to “come experience the sights, sounds and magic of the holiday season” through a show that “sparkles with Christmas spirit.”
The Christmas Spectacular will be shown at the New Life Fellowship, 20 Kelloway Crescent. For more information, or tickets, please visit cornerstoneyouththeatre.org or call 403-917-1515.
