Visions of the holiday season are featured in Red Deer’s First Friday gallery openings for December.
A seasonal display of art of all sorts can be found at the A + Art Gallery & Unique Collections, at Suite 203, 4919 49th St.
The joint show involves works by more than 23 artists, including Michael Huyzer, Marianne Harris, Christine Karron, Mike Villasana, Rita Schoenberger and Gordon Hiebert
The First Friday opening reception on Dec. 6 runs from 4 to 6 p.m. with refreshments.
Bird’s Eye View, mixed media works by Margriet Hogue, can be seen at the Viewpoint Gallery, in the Culture Services Centre, 5205 48th St.
Friday’s reception is from 6 to 8 p.m.
Out of the Kitchen, ceramics and paintings by Susan Barker and Issy Covey, is showing at the Kiwanis Gallery in Red Deer’s downtown public library.
Friday’s reception is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Art & Wall Adornments by Toni Saik are displayed at The Velvet Olive Lounge, 4928C 50th St. (access via the back alley). Friday’s 6 to 8 p.m. reception includes instrumental music from Dan Wiklund, followed by a Wiklund vs Wiklund concert.
For the Love of Alberta,watercolours by Brian Downes, is exhibited at the Marjorie Wood Gallery in the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. Friday’s reception is from 4 to 6 p.m.
A Painter’s Gift, a retrospective of paintings by Dave More, continues at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery. Friday’s reception is from 5 to 8 p.m.
Ode Couture, sculptures by Linda Hajash, and abstract paintings by Jeri Lynn Ing, are at Sunworks Gallery, 110-4913 50th Ave. Friday’s reception is from 6 to 8 p.m.
There are some gallery shows without receptions that can be seen in the city, including Cat-a-tude by Natalie Schmidt at The Hub on Ross Art Gallery, and Oh, the Places We’ve Been! (Part 2) by members of the Central Alberta Photographic Society in the Corridor Community Gallery, downstairs at the Recreation Centre.
