Diamonds to perform in Ponoka
The Diamonds will entertain during an old time dance to be held Saturday, April 17, at the Ponoka Moose Lodge. The event, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., costs $15 a person and includes light refreshments. As tickets are limited to 110 people, anyone interested should call John at 403-318-8813 as soon as possible — or Fred at 403-783-8587. Programs for women
Free programs that nurture and support women are being offered from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays throughout April at the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre. The Women’s Medicine Wheel Wellness program is meant to meet all four aspects of the symbolic medicine wheel, fostering spiritual, emotional, physical and mental well-being. Rock painting will be offered on April 6, a trip to the Collicutt Centre for swimming, sauna-ing and hot-tubbing will go on April 13, and two sharing circles will happen on April 20 and 27 for women with addictions. Summer landfill hours started this week. Beginning on Thursday, the Red Deer Waste Management Facility is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Waste Management Facility, located at 1709 40th Ave., includes the landfill, household hazardous waste dropoff, electronics recycling dropoff, interpretive centre and dropoff for yard waste.
