Chakras
Canadian Mental Health Association is running an eight-week workshop starting April 30 on the body’s energy system known as the chakras. Sessions will look at each of the seven chakras centres and discuss methods for self-care. Activities include paper and pen exercises, gentle yoga, visualization and meditation. Workshops will be held each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at A Gathering Place, 5021 Ross St. The cost is $100 for the entire course. Financial assistance may be available for people on fixed incomes. For more information or to register call the CMHA at 403-342-2266.
Better world
Cathy Wright, a veterinarian and EMT from Olds, recently travelled to Kenya with the Central Alberta based charity A Better World Canada. On April 16, Wright will speak about her experiences working in Kenyan medical clinics as part of Tomorrow’s Edge, a conference presented by A Better World Canada to share and celebrate the experiences of young people who have served others all over the world. The event takes place at Canadian University College Church (6915 Maple Dr., Lacombe) and starts at 9:15 a.m. A luncheon ($20) will follow in the CHCS gym (5201 College Ave.) at 12:30 p.m. and will feature stories of life-changing experiences from people who have travelled the globe to volunteer. Contact Cindy Wright at 403-505-9794 or cwright@abwcanada.org.
