Learning canning
Those who want to learn the fine art of preserving fruits and vegetables can join a canning workshop at Fort Normandeau on Saturday. The workshop that runs from 1 to 4 p.m. will teach food preservation methods and those who participate will take home a jar of something good to eat. The cost is $17. All supplies are included. Amazing race for all
Teams of children and adults can compete in the Amazing Race in the Snell Auditorium at the Red Deer Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 11. Teams receive clues, discover destinations and reach the finish line in the afternoon event. Each team needs at least one adult. There will be a party to celebrate after the race. The afternoon event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. To register, call 403-346-4688.
New traffic lights ready
A new set of traffic lights at Hwy 11A and 75th Avenue will begin flashing yellow and red on Tuesday to alert motorists to the new signals. The flashing will continue until Thursday, when the signals become fully operational. Drivers approaching a flashing yellow signal may proceed through the intersection with caution. Drivers approaching a flashing red signal must stop, observe the right of way and proceed when safe. Pedestrians and drivers are asked to be aware of this new signal and use caution and patience in the area.
