The Red Deer chapter of a group that provides blankets to children in crisis is looking for donations. Red Deer Project Linus needs blankets to hand out to children and teens up to age 18 who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. The blankets must be handmade, washable and made with child-friendly colours. They can range from baby blankets to versions big enough for teens. Donations of blanket supplies, including fabric, thread and fill are also appreciated, says Angie Garcia, local chapter co-ordinator. Project Linus, named after the security blanket-toting character in the Peanuts comic strip, has chapters across Canada and the U.S. The local chapter serves Red Deer and area.
