A Community Information Referral Society workshop on Tuesday will aim to ease a person’s transition into the world of governance. Titled “I’m new to the ‘board’ experience: what have I got myself into!!??”, the event will act as an opportunity for discussion between new board members and executive directors. Topics covered will include the different types of boards, fiduciary responsibility, staff and board relationships, risk management, liability and ethics. The $35-per-person workshop runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the CiRS Community Village at 4728 Ross St. Register online at www.cirsonline.ca
The public viewing in Eckville of Mellisa Hollingsworth’s Olympic performances takes place at 4:45 p.m. today. In an Advocate article on Feb. 11, the Eckville Chamber of Commerce-hosted event was given an incorrect starting time. The Eckville Curling Club, where the viewing takes place, will be open at 4 p.m. This free event is open to the public. Free soda and coffee provided, and a concession will be open. Web site articles have been corrected.
