Red Deer College board of governors has two new board members. Jeff Chipley, a second-year bachelor of arts in political science student, is the 2009-2010 student representative. The 19-year-old RDC student from Sylvan Lake has officiated at the 2008 Alberta Summer Games and was voted the 2006 Baseball Alberta Junior Umpire of the Year. JoAnn Rennick Brown has been at RDC for five years and currently works as the dean division co-ordinator for the arts division. She has 20 years of post-secondary experience and has volunteered for everything from the Alberta Summer Games to the United Way. Brown has a bachelor of arts in international studies and political studies from the University of Saskatchewan. The two new board members were recently appointed by Advanced Education and Technology Minister Doug Horner.


Olympic Exhibit

Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is catching Olympic fever. The hall and museum on Hwy 2 near Heritage Ranch has designed an exhibit highlighting the torch relay, Olympic history and information on some of the event’s sports and heroes. Visitors can experience simulation luging, skeleton and bobsledding or try their hand at table top curling. The Vancouver 2010 Olympics exhibit runs through Feb. 26. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youth and children three and under are free. A family rate of $12 is also available along with a $55 year-round family pass. Correction

An article on Monday’s entertainment page included incorrect pricing for tickets to Red Deer Cabaret, set for Jan. 28 through 30. Tickets are $27 per person or $100 for a table of four. The online story has been corrected.
