Singing valentine
Wild Rose Harmonizers Barbershop Quartet want to help Central Albertans declare their love on Feb. 14. The quartet will sing two songs to that special someone, deliver a rose, a card and take a souvenir photo in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake and Lacombe. Tax changes for seniors
The latest changes to the Income Tax Act and how it affects seniors will be discussed at the next general meeting of Central Alberta Council on Aging on Feb. 1. Catherine Louie, community volunteer and income tax outreach co-ordinator, will be the guest speaker. Seniors are encouraged to bring questions about their income taxes. The meeting at the Golden Circle, at 4602 47A Ave., starts at 9 a.m.
Shortcake for lovers
Treat someone special in your life with strawberry shortcake and a single pink rose this Valentine’s Day. The Rotary Club of Red Deer East is hosting its fourth annual Valentine’s Day Shortcake Drive to raise funds for its community efforts. Each shortcake costs $7 and the pink rose is another $3. Delivery within Red Deer on one, two or three orders is $5 while deliveries of four or more orders to the same location are free. Orders will be delivered between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Feb. 14. Orders under four can also be picked up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at #E9, 5560 45th St. in Cronquist Business Park or between 6 and 9 p.m. at 81 Baile Close. The deadline for orders is Feb. 4.
