Snowshoeing, making snow crafts and indoor games are some of the activities that members of the Young Naturalist Club of Red Deer can expect to enjoy at Participation Day on Sunday. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. The club membership fee is only $15 per year for the entire family. Membership includes a Young Naturalist package, which includes supplies and activity booklets, and unlimited involvement in all Participation Days. The Young Naturalist Club is geared towards children 10 years and younger, along with their family. The Sound of Music
The fine arts students at Notre Dame High School will present The Sound of Music this spring at the Memorial Centre. School matinees will be held on April 7 and 8 starting at noon. Tickets are $2 for students and chaperones get in for free. A public matinee will be held on April 9 at 1 p.m. while public evening shows start at 7 p.m. from April 7 to 9. Chocolate and Africa
Come out to learn how our purchase of chocolate affects people in West Africa. The Magdalene House Society and Sacred Heart Parish Social Justice Committee are hosting a screening of the film The Dark Side of Chocolate at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 22. The event is being held at Sacred Heart Parish at 5508 48A Ave. A brief discussion will be held after the viewing. Fair trade products will also be on sale. All proceeds will be donated to the Magdalene House Society.
