Charity golf classic

The Sutter Fund Charity Golf Classic will be held on Friday at the River Bend Golf Course. Tee time starts at 8:30 a.m. A banquet with a live and silent auction will follow at the Black Knight Inn. However, a public live and silent auction will also be held at the Black Knight Inn today starting at 6 p.m. Bring the kids to meet various celebrities and to bid on many unique items. The Sutter Fund is a non-profit fund established to benefit youth athletic associations and other charitable groups throughout Central Alberta.


Wellness ride

The registration deadline for the Berry Architecture Wellness Ride is July 31. The bicycle ride event in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Central Alberta Brain Injury Society will take place on Aug. 28. Riders can choose between a 25-km ride on trails in the City of Red Deer, or 50-km or 100-km route in Central Alberta. All proceeds from this event support local community programming. Parade route

The Westerner Days Fair and Exposition parade will snake through the streets of downtown Red Deer on Wednesday with its collection of floats, bands and other attractions. Kickoff will be at 9:30 a.m. and will run for about two hours. The route follows 47th Avenue to 53rd Street, then along 51st Avenue to 48th Street and south along 48th Avenue. Drivers are reminded road closures and traffic disruptions throughout the parade route.
