Current radar sites
Red Deer RCMP traffic services will be keeping a photo radar eye on 11 city locations from now until Aug. 2.
Playground zones: Ellenwood Drive, 57th Avenue, Lawford Avenue, 55th Avenue, Oleander Drive and Jewell Street.
Traffic corridors: 32nd Street, Riverside Drive, 67th Street, 40th Avenue, Edgar Industrial Drive and 49th Avenue.
RCMP reserve the right to change photo radar locations without notice.
Girl rewarded for generosity
A Red Deer student who donated three tickets for a sold-out Sept. 19 Justin Bieber concert will see the singer in concert after all. Natasha Walz donated her birthday present of three tickets for the Edmonton concert to an July 16 auction for the Red Deer chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta. An anonymous group of individuals and businesses joined together to put in a bid to give the tickets back to Walz and their $1,100 bid won. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the operation of the Red Deer chapter of the learning disabilities association.
Teen wins scholarship
A local teen has earned a $2,000 scholarship from Gaetz Memorial United Church for her volunteer work. Morgan Dumville has been an active youth church member who co-ordinated and helped in the nursery for the last four years. She has also volunteered at Kasota East Camp Fair Booth, been a teen helper at Bible school, and provided child care for congregational meetings. The educational scholarship is presented annually to a high school student who has made a significant contribution to the life of the congregation. Morgan graduated this year from Ecole Notre Dame Catholic School with honours with her bilingual certificate. She was involved in concert choir, student council and peer tutoring.
