Winter weather usually slows down most motorists but RCMP traffic service personnel will remain on the lookout for speeders for 10 days beginning Friday through until March 13. Photo radar sites are as follows:

Playground zones: Pamely Avenue, Glendale Boulevard, 55th Avenue, 45th Avenue, Kingston Drive, Cornett Drive.
Traffic corridors: 49th Street, Gaetz Avenue, 49th Avenue, Edgar Industrial Drive, Taylor Drive.

Amanda Lindhout’s Global Enrichment Foundation will be the talk of a special event at Markerville’s Fensala Hall honouring International Women’s Day on Tuesday. Lindhout was kidnapped in Somalia while doing freelance reporting there, but since her release in November 2009, she has wanted to help women get a better life through education there. Lindhout is unable to attend because of a previous engagement but her mother Lorinda Stewart will be in attendance to speak. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for youth and students. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction go to the foundation. Doors open at 6 p.m. Supper is included.
