Children aged seven to 12 are invited to make Christmas presents for their parents. Kids’ Christmas Present workshops will run at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre — Gifts for Mom runs 1 to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Gifts for Dad runs on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy a nature walk, treats and your choice of gifts to make. The search is on for outstanding teachers and principals in Alberta. The 2012 Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes creative and effective teaching. About 130 semifinalists will be selected and 23 will receive the award presented by Alberta Education and supported by Alberta School Boards Association, Alberta Teachers’ Association and others. Semifinalists will be honoured at regional celebrations in April. The deadline for nominations is Feb. 3, 2012.
