Raising funds for skatepark
CJ Berube, an Elvis Tribute artist, will host a live music event in support of the Lacombe Skatepark Committee on Wednesday. Music for the Heart will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Lacombe Memorial Centre and will feature an evening of classic tunes performed by CJ and his wife Kim Berube. They will be accompanied by Charlie Britton and the Country Gold Band. Tickets are $25 each and are available at Sunny 94 Radio in Lacombe or by calling 403-357-7776. The Lacombe Skatepark Committee will receive $5 from every ticket sold.
Citizens on patrol meet
Red Deer members of Citizens On Patrol will hold their annual general meeting on Tuesday, including a presentation by the RCMP’s city street team. Female victims remembered
Join the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter and the Domestic Relationship Violence Initiative Committee on Dec. 6 to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The annual ceremony coincides with the anniversary of the death of 14 young women who were killed on Dec. 6, 1989, at L’ecole Polytechnique de Montreal because of their gender. A candlelight vigil will be held in honour of all the women who have lost their lives as a result of violence. The ceremony, which will last for about 30 minutes, will be held in City Hall Park at 7 p.m. For more information, call Ian Wheeliker at 403-346-5643.
