Toopy, Binoo coming here
Toopy and Binoo will encounter the Blue Cat Blues Band, some rock ’n’ roll sheep, and a pair of love-struck dragons when they debut in their live stage show at Red Deer’s Memorial Centre on Sunday, Jan. 16. Tickets for Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon are $24.50, plus service charges, and go on sale on Saturday from Ticketmaster. The 1 p.m. show will be based on the popular animated Treehouse TV series about Toopy, a happy-go-lucky mouse, and his best friend, a silent plush cat named Binoo.
Mosaic Market
A Mosaic Market to promote social justice and locally and globally made arts and crafts will be held at The Hub on Ross on Saturday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The market will also include fair trade items, homemade baking and more, along with displays and entertainment. Co-hosted by The Hub, Grammalink Africa and Tools for Schools Africa Foundation, the event is an opportunity for the public to meet new people and learn about these organizations. Admission is by donation at the door. The Hub is located at 4936 Ross St.
Christmas Parade
The deadline to enter a float in Red Deer’s Christmas Parade is Friday. The Biggest Tree Festival and Christmas Parade held on Nov. 23 is the kickoff to the Festival of Trees and Christmas season. The action takes place in downtown Red Deer, where people can watch the lighting of the Christmas lights in City Hall Park and the Santa Claus parade from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Live entertainment, children’s activities and free refreshments are also part of the fun.
