Hunting Hills casino
Hunting Hills High School will host its first fun money casino evening fundraiser on Oct. 27 at Hunting Hills High School. A buffet dinner starts at 6 p.m., with the tournament starting at 7 p.m. More than 400 people will have the chance to play, with games including a Texas Hold ’Em poker tournament, cash wheel and other fun gambling games. There will be 105 tickets for the poker tournament and 295 for blackjack and the other games. Tickets are $50 each. A silent auction, raffles and food service will also be available. Money raised will go to the athletics program, music program and 2011 grad class. The school is also looking for sponsors for the event. Photo ID help at clinic
People needing photo identification can obtain it from the Central Alberta Community Legal Clinic on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The clinic offers affidavits of identification that are notarized by a lawyer. The identification doesn’t replace government identification but is intended to help people access basic services while replacing their proper identification. The clinic runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. You must phone 403-314-9129 to book an appointment.
Managing child anger
Managing your child’s anger is the focus of a six-week free course beginning Wednesday. The course is offered by Catholic Social Services and is designed for children aged nine to 12 and their parents. Children will learn to identify anger triggers, communicate feelings, use new coping strategies, resolve conflict and respect the boundaries of others. Parents and guardians will learn to identify their beliefs about anger, communicate and create structure for the child and use new parenting strategies when a child is angry. The meetings will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 5108 48th Ave. in Red Deer. People are asked to phone 403-347-8844 to enrol.
