Celebrate the first day of fall with a guided night time nature walk under the full moon. Weather permitting, the walk will take place on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. All ages are welcome but adults must accompany children. Admission by suggested donation of $3 per person or $10 per family.


Scrabble benefit

Scrabble Players — test your wordsmithing skills in the name of the many African grandmothers who need help looking after their families. On the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 1, GrammaLink-Africa will its third-annual, non-competitive Scrabble benefit at the Red Deer Golden Circle, with proceeds going the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, a project of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Games take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 403-343-1881 for information.


Charity law meeting

Representatives of charities can learn more about federal fundraising rules and how to do official donation receipts properly. The Charity Law Information Program is hosting two workshops at Red Deer’s Capri Centre on Wednesday, Sept. 29. The fundraising workshop will run from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $25. The charitable receipt workshop runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and costs $25. Attending both workshops will be $40.
