Family star gazing

Families who want to star gaze together can visit the Kerry Wood Nature Centre on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. An interpreter will give a presentation on the night sky and its constellations during Family Planetarium. The cost is $3 per person or $10 per family. For more details, call the nature centre at 403-346-2010.


Officers honoured

The public is invited to a memorial march on Friday in honour of all firefighters and police officers who have died in the line of duty. Honour guards from Red Deer Emergency Services and Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be on the west steps of City Hall for the half-hour ceremony that starts at 9:30 a.m. The Red Deer County fire department will also be on hand. Both the Canada and City of Red Deer flags will be lowered at half mast. Those who attend will be asked to gather on the sidewalk near the northwest corner of City Hall.


Victoria Park summer fun

Victoria Park Retirement is inviting Central Alberta seniors and their families to come out for a Summer of Fun on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public event at 9 Avery St. features carnival games and tours of the retirement community. A free barbecue will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. For more information, call 403-309-1957.
