Volunteers are wanted to help count Red Deer’s homeless population.

Using surveys, they will gather information face-to-face or through observation on the evening of Oct. 16.

The City of Red Deer and the Red Deer and District Community Foundation are conducting the surveys for the Red Deer Point in Time (PIT) Homeless Count 2012.

The data will provide a “snapshot” of homelessness in Red Deer.

The count will provide a baseline to measure progress on the goal to end homelessness; and provide policy makers, service providers and funders with data to plan for programs, services, and the creation of sufficient, affordable housing.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older. No experience is required as training will be provided on the evening of the count.

Future counts will be conducted every two years.

Interested applicants are asked to go to the following online link and complete the registration form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RedDeer_PITHomelessCount_2012.

Selected volunteers will be contacted by OrgCode Consulting Inc. via email with additional information regarding training.
